Robert Gardiner: Some inconvenient facts about Wind Farms and power generation
The selection, design, construction and long term maintenance of modern wind farms creates a number of contentious issues in fields as diverse as environmental, social, economic and politics.
For most amongst these issues is Climate change denialism; selective ‘factoids’ create an enormous amount of dis and mis-information that has to be addressed well before the first turbine foundations are planned, let alone excavated.
Robert has worked professionally as an ecologist since 1988.
After nine years as the RAN’s first Environmental Officer, he resigned and took his cameras to work in as many locations and environmental projects as he could without becoming divorced.
In 2020, he commenced as ‘temporary’ Environmental Professional (employee) of Vestas at the Dulacca Wind Farm…three years later (after completing a second solar farm project in Qld.) he has returned to Victoria to consult full time on both the Golden Plains and the Strathbogie Wind Farms.
