SUMMARY:Global warming: a model of the carbon cycle by Dr. John Perkins
DESCRIPTION:\nTo project the effect of fossil fuel CO2 emissions on global temperature we need to project those emissions in the context of the natural emissions and absorption of the land and the sea. Due to a lack of data, we need to provide proxy series to assist with projections. Available net flows of CO2 between land and sea are used to form estimates of the natural gross flows.\nThese form the basis of carbon cycle based on the natural stocks and flows. The performance of the model is evaluated over the historical period. The model equations are used to project estimates to 2060. The results suggest that global temperatures can be stabilised but at a high level.\nDr John Perkins obtained a science degree at Monash specialising in computer science. He then studied economics at ANU and London University, subsequently completing a PhD in econometrics at Monash. He has spent most of his working life dealing with computer economic models, first at Melbourne University and then at the National Institute of Economic and Industry Research.\nJoin Skeptics Café at The Stolberg Hotel in Preston (cnr Bell and Plenty) for a meal and quality conversation, chatting with ladies and gentlemen.
